GETTING ACQUAINTED WITH MITINET - Practicing with tutorials.
We will be using Mitinet as the source for electronic cataloging for the rest of the course. The instructions for downloading are below. Since the access key is so long, you may want to copy it and paste it in after you have downloaded the file. There is no assignment to turn in this week. You will be going through the tutorials to prepare you for the next several assignments.

Downloading and Installing MARC Magician Professional

1. Go to http://www.mitinet.com and click > Downloads.
2. Click on MARC Magician Professional.
3. Follow the online instructions for downloading and installing MARC Magician Pro.
4. After installing and restarting your computer, start MARC Magician Pro by clicking on the wizard hat icon on your Desktop.
5. You will be asked to enter the Access Key with will be indicated in the COURSE INFORMATION section on Bb. .
6. Holdings Type: Select "Easy Entry" and choose whatever cataloging system you have at your school.
7. Active Error Checking: Basic

TURNING IN YOUR MARC MAGICIAN ASSIGNMENT

1. Select the records you want turn in for this assignment
2. Go to File and pull down to Export
3. Save your file with your last name, making sure the file ends in .001, e.g. Pentlin.001
4. Upload your file to the assignment section of Blackboard.
